New Mexico 2016 Tax Updates

The New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department made very few changes for tax year 2016. The only notable change was a new method of apportionment for business income. Individuals with business income inside and outside of New Mexico are now allowed to apportion business income using the Headquarters Operation Apportionment Formula if certain requirements are met.

The New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department still allows common credits and deductions including the New Mexico Low- and Middle-Income Exemption, Exemption for Persons Age 65 or Older or Blind, Low Income Comprehensive Rebate, Property Tax Rebate, Medical Care Expense Deduction, and New Mexico Child Day Care Credit.
