Alabama 2016 Tax Updates

The Alabama Department of Revenue made a few changes to their 2016 tax laws. Notably, many of the other available tax credits featured on Schedule OC now allow you to enter your pro rata share of these credits from a schedule K-1 to claim on your individual return. The Tariff Credit is no longer available.

Most of the changes to your 2016 Alabama tax return are cosmetic in nature. For example, a new Schedule W-2 will display Alabama withholdings from your Form W-2s.

The maximum amount of Credit for Transferring from Failing Public School to Nonfailing Public School or Nonpublic School allowed has increased to $3,794 per student.
