Kentucky 2016 Tax Updates

There are a few changes to Kentucky tax rules that may affect your 2016 Kentucky tax return.

The standard deduction was raised to $2,460. The itemized deduction limit has also increased. The brackets for calculating the Family Size Tax Credit have also been adjusted.

Form 5695-K for the Kentucky Energy Efficiency Products Tax Credit is no longer available in 2016. You may only claim this credit for a carryforward of the unused credit from 2015.

For those Kentucky nonresident filers who lived in Kentucky reciprocity states with wages and salaries being the only income earned in Kentucky you may now e-file your Form 740-NP-R in certain scenarios.

You will now also have the option to contribute to Special Olympics Kentucky, the Pediatric Cancer Research Fund, and the Rape Crisis Center Trust Fund from your Kentucky refund.
