Oklahoma 2016 Tax Updates

The Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) made only a few changes for the 2016 tax year. The most notable include the following updates: First, the top tax rate decreased from 5.25% to 5%. Second, the standard deduction for those filing as head of household has been increased to $9,300. Third, a change was made in the way itemized deductions are calculated that may cause your federal itemized deductions to be higher than your state itemized deductions. And fourth, the Oklahoma Earned Income Credit is no longer refundable and is now listed among other nonrefundable credits. This may cause you to have no Oklahoma Earned Income Credit even if you have Federal Earned Income Credit.
