Pennsylvania 2016 Tax Updates

There are only a few changes this year that could affect your Pennsylvania tax return. If you received a cash prize from the Pennsylvania Lottery during 2016, that income is now taxable on your Pennsylvania tax return. All other gambling income from non-Pennsylvania Lottery winnings is also taxable on your return. Only noncash prizes from the Pennsylvania Lottery are exempt from tax in Pennsylvania.

You may qualify for the returning Tax Forgiveness Credit this year that will reduce or possibly refund your Pennsylvania tax liability. You can now choose to donate any or all of your tax refund to an existing PA 529 College Savings Program Account directly on your tax return.
